How to Turn a PNG Sequence Into MP4 or WebM

Updated May 12, 2026 by PrivateTools

Load a numbered image sequence, confirm the playback order, and export a video file on your device.

What this guide helps you do

No upload step

Frames stay on your device, so you can review and export without sending them to a remote converter.

Made for sequences

The tool is built around frame order, playback, and export instead of pretending a folder of frames is just another video upload.

Useful output options

Export MP4 for files that need to play almost anywhere, WebM for web playback, or GIF for short loops.

Steps

1

Prepare Your Image Sequence

Put the frames in order before you load them.

Before you export, make sure the sequence is ordered and consistent:

  • Name files sequentially: frame001.png, frame002.png, frame003.png
  • Ensure all images have identical dimensions (width × height)
  • Use the same image format when you can (PNG is a good choice for quality)
  • Verify the sequence plays correctly when viewed in order

Before you export

Most 3D and motion tools can export numbered frames automatically. Use that export mode whenever it's available.

2

Open the Sequence Converter

Open the player and load the files from your device.

The Image Sequence Player is built for sequence review first and export second:

  • Runs in the browser with no install flow
  • Lets you review the sequence before export
  • Exports MP4, WebM, or GIF depending on where you need to use the file
  • Keeps the files on your device during the process

3

Load Your Images

Select all frames so the player can read them in order.

Load the frames you want to review and export:

  • Click "Select Images" and choose all files in your sequence
  • Use Ctrl+A (Cmd+A on Mac) to select all files at once
  • The frames stay on your device; they are not uploaded
  • Preview your sequence immediately after loading

No upload step

Frames stay in your browser session. There's no upload queue or server-side render step.

4

Adjust Settings

Pick frame rate, format, and quality based on where the video will be used.

Choose settings for the final file:

Frame Rate Options:

  • • 24fps - Cinema standard
  • • 30fps - Video standard
  • • 60fps - Smooth motion
  • • Custom - Use another rate when the project needs it

Quality Settings:

  • • High: cleaner final export
  • • Medium: smaller review export
  • • Low: smaller files for quick sharing
  • • Lossless: only when size matters less than fidelity
5

Export and Download

Export the sequence and save the result to your device.

Once playback looks right, export the sequence:

  • Click "Convert to Video" to start processing
  • Wait for the progress message to finish
  • Preview the result before downloading
  • Download the file to your device

Performance note

Export time scales with frame count, dimensions, and format. Short MP4 previews finish much faster than long, high-resolution masters.
